About

Maco Webpage Services started in 1996 in Barnwell, South Carolina. My dad, Clem Collins, taught himself HTML while working at the Savannah River Site. With his partner James May, he put Barnwell on the internet and built webpages for small businesses around town.

The name Maco is MA for May, CO for Collins.

By 2002, his site (The Barnwell Web) had gone from 150 hits a month to 40,000, all run from home beside his day job.

I’m Cash, his son. I grew up watching him build Maco. I now live in London where I manage a tech consultancy group. I also draw as @cash.doodles on Instagram.

Thirty years on, I’ve reopened the shop. Same idea as his: give people who make good things a place of their own on the internet.
